Another shocking HIV report: A 112-page investigative report, released today by the Human Rights Watch, has found that police confiscation of condoms in New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and San Francisco leads to riskier sex behavior and a rise in the HIV infection rate. In these four cities, considered the worst in the nation for HIV risk, police arrest women who carry multiple condoms on charges of prostitution, a policy that forces some women to stop carrying condoms altogether. The report also found that police in these cities are often hostile toward trans prostitutes.
