Oh, Canada!: This week, Canada's largest Protestant denomination, the United Church of Canada, elected Rev. Gary Paterson to be a moderator, or presiding officer/principal spokesman. The Church has welcomed gay clergy since 1988. The openly-gay reverend has made history in Canada, and told the Vancouver Sun that he is honored to be in the position: "I see the possibility for so many young people who may still be struggling with their orientation being able to look up and see role models."
