Religious Coalition Endorses ENDA 'As A Matter Of Justice'

By Staff on from thinkprogress.org

At this week's Congress hearing on adding LGBT rights to ENDA (the Employee Non-Discrimination Act), a coalition of religious leaders submitted a letter in support of the measure. The group, which included Hindu, Muslim, Episcopal and other religious organizations, told Congress that LGBT workers deserve protection: "It is indefensible that, while sharing every American’s concerns about the health of our economy, LGBT workers must also fear job security because of prejudice...ENDA respects the protections for religious institutions...while ensuring that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are protected from baseless discrimination in the workplace."
