Pink Dot in Singapore Highlights Changing Gay Rights Debate

With 15,000 participants, Singapore's fourth-annual Pink Dot celebration was a sight to behold. Despite the colorful protest, the Asian city state continues to enforce its criminal law against homosexuality: “I think if you look at places like Hong Kong and Taiwan you see that although they are both Asian cultures with similar political structures, they are way more advanced in terms of protecting minority rights...The excuse that we are Asian and conservative does not hold water any longer.” (Mr. Hwang, community activist)
