New booklet seeks to reconcile Mormon faith with gay youth

When a Mormon child comes out to his family, the spiritual resources are pretty scarce. A new guide, titled "Supportive Families, Healthy Children: Helping Latter-day Saint Families with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Children," seeks to correct this. The 25-page guide was co-written by San Francisco State University social scientist Caitlin Ryan, as well as former Mormon bishop Robert Rees, who is now a literature professor at the University of California. The booklet includes both scripture and social research on raising an LGBT child in the Mormon faith.
