Medical body in fight to extend HPV vaccination to gay men

By Staff on from guardian.co.uk

Health professionals and politicians in the U.K. are urging the country's health board to include gay men in HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccination trials. According to new research, HPV has been reduced in heterosexual men and women since the introduction of the vaccine for girls in 2008, but gay men were not protected because they were not sexually active with either group. The study also shows that If gay men through the age of 26 are given the vaccine, HPV, HIV and related cancers will decrease.
