Hackers Attack Ugandan Government Websites to Protest Homophobia

By Staff on from advocate.com

"We currently have full control of the President of Uganda's website." A group of hackers known only by the nickname "Anonymous" has gained access to Uganda's governmental computer system. In a daring act, the group posted an apology message from the country's prime minister to the LGBT community, and then proclaimed this week as "Gay Pride Week." And they may be sticking around. One hacker said that "we will not stand by while LGBT Ugandans are victimized, abused and murdered by a ruthless and corrupt government...[we will not stop] until the government of Uganda treats all people including LGBT equally and with respect, dignity and immediately ends the arrest and harassment of LGBT."
