DC's Gay Green Lantern Is a Super Cop-Out
By Phil_Matt_Eleven on Comics/Games from thewrap.com
Is the Green Lantern really a "major, iconic" superhero? Tim Molloy, at TheWrap.com, doesn't think so. Molloy writes that DC Comics' decision to out the old-school superhero was a rouse to keep the womanizing screen version in, while still earning points for being pro-gay. What's more, a gay Green Lantern represents the fact comic book companies "are far behind television and other media in offering positive portrayals of gay characters...Comics, which are basically soap operas with super heroes, can afford to take risks because of their very niche-oriented audience."
