This American Life contributor and writer David Rakoff has passed away from cancer at the age of 47, roughly two and a half decades after he survived esophageal cancer at the age of 22. A gay, Jewish, New York-based writer, Rakoff was the recipient of the " Thurber Prize for American Humor" for his book "Half Empty."
