For the first time in history, an appeals court case is going up against the 1996 federal DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) ruling. The plaintiffs include seven bi-national same sex couples (and three widowers) and the federal government is being represented by BLAG, or the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group of the U.S. House of Representatives. Court proceedings began today in Boston.
