Civil rights, gay activists march to NYC mayor’s home, demand end to stop-and-frisk policing

"We’ve been screaming loudly, and he hasn’t heard us, but hopefully he’ll hear the deafening silence.” For the first time, the LGBT community has joined the African American community in a civil protest against police "stop and frisk" procedures. Thousands of supporters marched in silence over 30 blocks from Harlem to the Upper East Side, where they convened at Mayor Bloomberg's home.
