Historic Week for Illinois: This week in the city of Cicero, Illinois, a court ruled that 19-year-old Latina trans woman, Bianca Feliciano, will be awarded $10,000 in damages after local police verbally harassed, abused and taunted her while she walked down the street on February 6, 2011. The ruling also mandated that the town of Cicero must institute an anti-transgender discrimination policy for its police force. Feliciano testified that police officers accused her of being a sex worker, which she is not.
