Patricia Highsmith's "Price of Salt" has been adapted into a film ("Carol"), and rumor has it that Cate Blanchett and Mia Wasikowska have been cast in the two lead roles. The novel, which was written in 1952, tells the story of a wife in a loveless marriage and her relationship with a young department store clerk in her twenties. John Crowley ("Boy A") will direct the film, which begins taping in February, 2013.
