Throughout the nation today, vigils are taking place to mourn the loss of 19-year-old lesbian Mollie Judith Olgin, who was shot this past weekend in a Portland, Texas park. Her girlfriend of five months, 18-year-old Mary Christine Chapa, was also shot, but is recovering after an emergency surgery. Police have not confirmed if the murder was a hate crime, but are leaning toward this assessment. Reports also suggest that the crime was not random.
