California bill would shield churches from performing gay marriage ceremonies

In order to mollify California Prop 8 supporters who think that religious organizations will be forced to perform gay weddings, Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), has crafted legislation that ensures this won't be the case. If passed, Senate Bill 1140 will clarify the separation of church and state in civil rights marriage ceremonies.
