Most of us already assumed he was gay, but Anderson Cooper has publicly come out in an e-mail message to the Daily Beast's Andrew Sullivan. Cooper had decided previously not to publicly disclose his sexual orientation to "to maintain some level of privacy in [his] life."

His reaction? Cooper writes: "The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud."
