After Clementi’s Suicide, Rutgers Embraces Its Gay and Transgender Students

Two years ago, Rutgers University freshman Tyler Clementi committed suicide after his campus roommate videotaped him being intimate with another man and broadcast the tape to other students. Now the New Jersey school is one of the safest and welcoming for LGBT students, with a program that includes a 92-page "queer issues" guide for incoming freshman, new LGBT housing, and a 5-star rating by the organization Campus Pride.
