Facebook apologises after blocking founder of Gay Marriage USA Facebook

By Staff on from guardian.co.uk

Freedom of image: When Murray Lipp, creator of the Gay Marriage USA Facebook page, attempted to log-in to Facebook this week, he discovered that his pro-gay marriage page had been taken down due to "inappropriate content." Lipp's recently-uploaded image of a bi-racial gay couple wedding ceremony had garnered enough negative user responses that Facebook suspended the page for a week. Facebo [more...]

By Staff on from pinknews.co.uk

Scientists: Pardon gay code-breaker

By Staff on from seattletimes.com

Honor, code: In an editorial letter to Britain's Daily Telegraph, physicist Stephen Hawking and 10 other scientists urged Prime Minister David Cameron to pardon and “formally forgive" Alan Turing, a gay codebreaker and World War 2 hero who was chemically castrated and stripped of his military honors when caught having sex with a man. Turing later committed suicide, allegedly, with a cyanid [more...]

By Staff on from huffingtonpost.com

Point miss of the week: When Bryan Fischer, of the SPLC-deemed hate group American Family Association, heard the recent claim that epi-genetics may play a role in homosexual offspring, he was quick to offer his analysis, although the point may have been lost: "If 90 percent of babies in the womb who are diagnosed with Downs syndrome never draw their first breath, what are the chances that parents [more...]

Epigenetics, not genetics, underlies being gay or lesbian

By Staff on from upi.com

Proof that it's genetic...sorta: A new research study in the latest issue of Quarterly Review of Biology suggests that epigenetics, which is the study of the "transmission of sexually antagonistic epi-marks," may be responsible for sexual orientation being passed down in some families, but not in every generation: "While genes hold the instructions, epi-marks direct how those instructions are car [more...]

World first as gay penguins become fathers

By Staff on from thestar.com

It's a great week to be gay dad: In Denmark, the first-ever gay penguin couple has successfully hatched an egg. Keepers at the Odense Zoo noticed that the pair was trying to steal other couple's eggs, so they tried a experiment with a ball. As it turns out, they were natural dads. When a female penguin mother in their group abandoned her egg, it was given to the gay couple to hatch. For more, cli [more...]
